Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMD’S)
play a major role in an individual’s total wellness. Most medical and dental professionals don’t realize the impact that they have on one’s life. This lecture will enlighten you to immediately identify OMD’s among your patients’ so that you can help them reach optimum function, through collaboration with other healthcare providers.

Objectives:
 • Define Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders
 • Discover treatment options using a team approach
 • Learn the importance of correct tongue rest posture
 • Simply identify OMD’s during the initial assessment
Presenter: Danni Gomes, RDH, BS, MAADH
Ms. Gomes graduated from Fones School of Dental Hygiene at the University of Bridgeport in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Danni is a Myofunctional Therapist having completed post-graduate training with the Academy of Myofunctional Therapy. Ms. Gomes is also an American Heart Association Certified Basic Life Support Instructor.

Danni has 23 years experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist, with a license to practice in both the state of New York and New Jersey. Ms. Gomes is an adjunct faculty member at New York University College of Dentistry’s Dental Hygiene Department.

She is an Instructor in the Continuing Education Department at New York City College of Technology’s Dental Assisting Program. Danni is a founding member of the Academy of Applied Myofunctional Sciences. Danni is also a member of the American Academy of Dental Hygiene, the International Association of Healthcare Professionals, and the American Dental Education Association. She is an active member of the American Dental Hygienist’s Association in which she is now serving on the Continuing Education Peer Review Panel.
